The ideal candidate will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager and will be a key hands-on member of the accounting and finance team, working closely with management and our outsourced accounting provider to perform and improve all aspects of the organization’s accounting, finance and treasury responsibilities. The individual should have a proven track record of financial and operational accounting performance and desire to learn and grow through exposure to all aspects of the upstream O&G industry. The Accounting Analyst must exercise a high level of attention to detail, possess technical knowledge and analytical skills and bring a proactive approach to solving issues while ensuring the Company’s accounting and compliance needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Perform, review and analyze monthly operational accounting calculations and journal entries, including Revenue & Expense Accruals, Prepaids, DDA & ARO calculations and other financial reporting entries.

  • Partner with our outsourced accounting firm during monthly close; lead analysis and reconciliation of financial data to identify issues in the reporting cycle and assist with compilation of the entities GAAP financial statements.

  • Assist in the preparation of workpapers and communication with external Audit firm and other stakeholders during the financial audit process.

  • Key partner in the execution of treasury and administrative functions, including cash management and disbursement, intercompany balance and fund transfers, banking and account reconciliations, insurance and accounts receivable collection.

  • Develop and implement internal processes, documentation and controls to improve data quality and communication, improve close efficiency and reduce business risk.

  • Maintain close cross function communication to ensure that accounting policies and procedures are consistent with organizational needs and respond to ad-hoc requests as business needs dictate.

  • Assist with evaluation, system design and implementation of future accounting standards and policies.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in O&G accounting and/or financial reporting

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field

  • CPA and prior accounting firm experience preferred

  • Familiarity with US Onshore Unconventional plays

  • OGSYS accounting system experience preferred

  • Comfort working with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail with multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite, excellent oral, written and verbal communication skills

    Work Environment:

    This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment

    such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanning devices/fax machines.

    Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time exempt position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload and needs of the Company;

    however, it is expected that the candidate will work in the office M-TH with the option to work from home on

    Friday (subject to business need). The presently existing work schedule is a 9/4 work week (9 hours Monday through

    Thursday and 4-hours on Friday morning). Although unanticipated, this work schedule is subject to change by

    management.
