The purpose of Florida educator certification is to support the academic achievement of our students by assuring that our educators are professionally qualified for highly effective instruction. Florida educators must be certified to teach in our public schools and in many of our private schools. Description:

The Program Specialist II position is responsible for record management to assure the highest data quality to enhance the integrity of the Bureau of Educator Certification’s management system (Versa). This position serves as the bureau’s technical support specialist to develop and implement the Versa auditing practices to support quality improvement efforts within the bureau’s units.

  • The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.

  • The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the team.

    General Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for providing primary support to the bureau for the maintenance and coordination of technical and operational infrastructure required by the Unit’s processes and customized operating system.

  • This position is responsible for assisting the Operations section in meeting the Bureau’s standards and goals for performance-based budgeting.

  • This position must work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.

    Specific Responsibilities :

  • Assist with maintenance of accurate records of property and equipment inventory.

  • Support the development and implementation of Operations Unit business practices.

  • Analyze practices to reduce costs associated with new and existing technologies.

  • Prepare reports and other documents in accordance with Bureau policies and procedures.

  • Optimize efficiency and resource utilization.

  • Provide carefully researched responses to educator certification inquiries from the applicant, institutions of higher education and public-school educators for BEC support.

  • Analyze and test technology system enhancements to identify errors and ensure conformance to data quality standards.

  • Prepare or assist in the documentation of standardized data quality management practices and procedures.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in keyboarding and operating technology systems.

  • Ability to analyze various components of bureau processes to anticipate and troubleshoot technology related issues.

  • Ability to manage projects efficiently through planning and organizing tasks.

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational practices.

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to educator certification technology.

  • Ability to provide precise feedback and communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Computer software and hardware experience

  • Microsoft Office experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or Information Technology
