Trinity Health Performance Excellence Consultant - Surgical Services in Syracuse, New York

Description:

Promotes excellence through education, quality improvement, and process initiatives that align with the goals of the Surgical Services division consistent with relevant guidelines and standards. Monitors and tracks quality and safety metrics relevant to the departments within Surgical Services. Utilizes PDSA improvement process to improve delivery of care. Leads quality initiatives that will improve patient outcomes. Performs analyses of process data.

Responsibilities:

  • Coaches and collaborates with manager and director to drive improvements.

  • Maintains knowledge of standards and guidelines relevant to practice areas.

  • Serves as a content expert and supports development and implementation of colleague education as needed.

  • Adheres to established network policies and procedures related to job function, making recommendations and updates as appropriate.

  • Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement. Maintains confidentiality of all phases of the performance improvement process related to patients, physicians, staff and visitors.

  • Adheres to safety standards within the network and performance improvement service.

  • Aggregates and analyzes collected data to measure performance with established criteria.

  • Ensures teams are data driven and outcome oriented.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or variance in practice patterns.

  • Utilizes national/local benchmarks to analyze data.

  • Collaborates with Performance Excellence and service line leaders to ensure accreditation readiness.

  • Maintains dashboards and scorecards related to quality and safety metrics, reporting out regularly to leadership and front-line colleagues.

  • Collaborates with other departments and surgical partners to support improvement initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned by Director of Surgical Services.

  • Act as 1) mentor; 2) clinician; 3) educator; 4) consultant/collaborator; and 5) navigator.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in nursing or health related field required.

  • Master’s degree in nursing or health related field preferred.

  • 5 years of clinical experience required as a Registered Nurse in peri-operative services.

  • Lean certification highly recommended

  • CNOR highly recommended.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of computer applications, such as MS office. Skill in using statistical software. Demonstrated skill in the acquisition, management and display of data. Ability to build rapport and coach from the front-line staff. Demonstrated ability to manage and introduce change into an organization.

  • Specialty credentialing & educational degree according to clinical practice specialty area preferred.

  • Maintains all licensures and certifications according to NYS regulations and specialty area requirements.

  • Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Physical Requirement and Demands:

  • Light work: walking, sitting and standing.

  • Work Environment and Safety - Office setting. Exposure class II: service specific, limited exposure to situation which could cause serious illness or injury.

  • Unit Manager, Director, and Clinical Services/Nursing Administration.

Pay Range: $37.60- $56.40

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
