What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer combination, including doubles

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you’ll need:

  • To be 21 years of age or older

  • Valid Class A commercial driver's license

  • Safe driving record and history

  • Doubles endorsement

  • To pass a DOT drug test and have no prior positive tests or refusals

  • To pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test (physical essential functions)

  • Availability to work a flexible schedule that’s up to 12-14 hours in a day, including day, night and weekend shifts

Essential Functions:

  • This position is responsible for daily pick up and deliveries.

  • The position is time sensitive, requires driving in city traffic.

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and reliable attendance.

  • Demonstrates the Company’s core values and complies with all Company policies and procedures.

  • May perform other duties as assigned by management.

  • Must keep DOT Driver’s Logs and Daily Trip Reports.

  • Must handle equipment paperwork accurately.

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Forklift experience

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally); move and position a converter dolly with an average weight/pull force of approximately 128 lbs.

  • Safely climb in/out of a tractor cab/trailer

  • Sit for extended periods of time in a truck tractor and/or on a forklift; safely operate heavy equipment and a forklift

  • Walk and stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)

  • Reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel

  • Operate a tractor-trailer combination up to 11 consecutive hours, in all types of weather, while safely transporting hazardous/non-hazardous materials

Scope and Accountability:

Completes moderately complex tasks following well-defined procedures; may involve a variety of work routines. Applies a range of experience and/or skills. Selects the appropriate alternatives from a variety of defined options. May provide on-the-job training to new team members.

Qualification Requirements:

Knowledge : HS Diploma, or equivalent. Candidate must have an acceptable and safe driving record.

Skills :

  • Ability to handle large equipment safely.

  • Communicate effectively with multiple dock personnel.

  • Work in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.

  • Work in outdoor weather conditions.

Experience :

  • 0-2 years of professional experience.

  • Must process a current Class A CDL and current DOT required medical certification card.

  • Subject to DOT required random drug screens.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment : The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and a light industrial environment, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office equipment and industrial equipment.
