We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Software Data Scientist to join our growing team of data analytics experts. As a Data Scientist at PPD (a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our database architecture and data processing systems. This infrastructure is essential to ensure that the development of high-level data applications (data visualization) and the deployment of machine learning models is conducted in a seamless and effective way.

This is a remote position for candidates based in Bulgaria & Poland.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and translate them into data science projects.

  • Lead the design, development and deployment of sophisticated AI/ML models to generate meaningful insights from diverse data assets

  • Use Python/R for complex data analysis, statistical model development and interactive application development.

  • Develop and implement predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical models to solve business problems and improve software performance

  • Develop data visualization tools and dashboards to communicate complex data insights in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to propose innovative solutions and improve existing processes.

  • Effectively communicate and guide team members through the machine learning process; Interpret and communicate findings and solutions to a broad audience, including business leadership

  • Document data science methodologies, algorithms, and findings to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintain system documentation

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in applied computer science, Computer Science, or related field of study or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

  • Previous data science/machine learning/AI experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5 years’ experience)

  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or Java, with experience in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning libraries.

  • Experience with exploratory data analysis techniques involving structured and unstructured data, machine learning (e.g. decision trees, neural networks, clustering, classification, Bayesian networks), model validation techniques, and data visualization techniques

  • Solid understanding of data management approaches such as relational databases, data schemas, object stores, column stores, triple stores, graph stores, and/or document stores

  • Knowledge of Azure AI services and CosmosDB is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Life Sciences systems and business is a plus

  • Sound analytical skills and shown talent in developing detailed analysis, models, plan calculations, and tools

  • Proven understanding of statistical concepts and techniques, as well as experience with data visualization tools.

  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and distributed computing frameworks is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex data sets to extract meaningful insights.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and oral) to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git) is desirable.
