Digital Product Design (DPD) at Ford is committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that our customers need and love. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of product designers, researchers, visual designers, industrial designers, modelers, and project managers.

In this position…

At Ford Model e, you will be at the forefront of Ford’s most strategic products, designing human needs into the heart of our next generation of products, services, and experiences. At Ford, we are not just inventing the future, we’re operationalizing it to help people move through their lives, better. We are looking for an exceptionally gifted UI/UX professional who is obsessed with exploring and advancing the latest interactive design trends, hardware capabilities and technologies. In this role, you must be able to envision the big picture while also rolling up your sleeves to perfect the smallest details. You will create compelling and thoughtful in-vehicle user experiences with a focus on clean and artful design and where it seamlessly integrates with in-vehicle hardware technology.

What you'll do…

  • Identify driver and passenger challenges and ideate holistic solutions.

  • Work with PM’s to synthesize project details, product requirements, and user journeys, within the boundaries of technical constraints.

  • Collate the vast amounts of data and collaborate with the many subject matter experts within Ford to establish guiding principles for your designs.

  • Use Figma and other design tools to develop compelling user experiences in the form of user stories and wireframes.

  • Connect, collaborate, and contribute to a Design System and define best practices.

  • Prototype and validate interaction models through user clinics using hardware prototype and vehicle bucks.

  • Manage timelines and expectations for design deliverables.

  • Advance our UX vision through motion and prototypes.

  • Express our brand vision through user interface design for in-vehicle experiences.

  • Execute designs with a keen sensibility to layout, color, typography, and interactive behavior.

  • Employ a systematic approach to solving large, complex design challenges.

  • Present creative work early and often to key stakeholders in design reviews.

  • Work with cross-functional partners to get your designs implemented as designed.

You'll have…

  • Bachelor’s degree HCI or equivalent or a combination of education and equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI product design

Even better you have…

  • Exceptional visual design skills

  • Sensitivity to intelligent system interactions

  • Understanding of Atomic Design principles

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Prototyping abilities (e.g. Figma, ProtoPie or similar)

  • Proficiency in human-centered design approaches, techniques and philosophy

  • Automotive UI/HMI experience

  • Background in digital product design solutions

  • Excellent concepting, written, oral and visual communication abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies

  • Experience creating and managing design systems at scale

  • Background working through iterative product design cycles

This position is a salary grade 8.
