Robert Half is partnering with a prominent player in the heavy construction industry, currently experiencing significant growth, to identify a detail-oriented and driven Staff Accountant. This position offers a promising pathway for career progression, with the potential to evolve into leadership roles such as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, and eventually Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate monthly closing and reporting cycles.

• Preparation of period-end journal entries and generation of financial statements.

• Manage fixed asset records, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposal processes.

• Ensure accurate recording and monitoring of pay applications and accounts receivable.

• Handle bank account operations, daily cash activities, and monthly transactions, including bank reconciliations.

• Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations, ensuring accurate alignment of sub-ledgers and General Ledger.

• Collaboratively work with project teams to address and resolve job cost issues. Spearhead initiatives to enhance reporting processes, month-end closings, and overall financial management.

• Take charge of preparing sales and property tax returns and other financial analyses as required. Aim to become the in-house expert on SAP Business One, leveraging it to streamline operations.

Requirements

• Professional accounting designation or nearing its completion.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a job costing environment within the heavy construction sector.

• Proficiency in job cost accounting and familiarity with the percentage of completion revenue recognition method.

• Experience with SAP Business One is highly desirable.

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and adhering to tight deadlines.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a knack for maintaining robust working relationships.

• Independent worker who also thrives in a team setting.
