r The Department of Culture, Society and Justice at the University of Idaho invites applications for the \"Terry Abraham and Priscilla Wegars Professorship of Asian American Historical Archaeology,\" a full-time, tenure track position. The department is looking for a highly specialized and focused candidate to direct the Universitys Asian American Comparative Collection (AACC). The candidate will be the primary point person for the Asian American Comparative Collection (AACC), which includes substantial outreach, budget management, collections management, stewarding, and acquisitions of collections. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the departments anthropology program through teaching one class per semester, working with undergraduate and graduate students and supporting the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program focusing on historical archaeology (housed in the history department). The successful candidate will be hired at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 2024.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

r

  • Ph.D. in anthropology or history with a focus on historical archaeology.
  • Experience working with Chinese diaspora materials.
  • Experience working with Japanese diaspora materials.
  • Experience supervising student research projects.
  • Experience working in archaeological/historical repositories housing Asian diaspora collections.

rrPreferred Qualifications:

r

  • Scholarly production in Asian diaspora studies.
  • Experience managing donors and processing donations, both of objects and monetary.
  • Supervisory experience leading archaeological excavations in general and field schools in particular.
  • Experience in Pacific Northwest cultural resources management.
  • Experience pursuing grants and contracts in support of research.
  • Experience developing public-facing projects highlighting Asian diaspora material culture. Experience working in Idaho on Asian diaspora archaeology/history projects.
