Accounting Clerk. Full time for Hummel's Office Plus in Mohawk, NY.

Our team is dedicated to creating a positive and efficient work environment for our clients, and we are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our team.

Description: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (but not limited to). Obtains financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Assists with collections by notifying the customers with delinquent accounts and attempts to secure payment either by calling or mailing form letters to customers to secure payment. Records payments to customers accounts and maintains accounts receivable records. Processes, posts and makes daily deposits to bank of all checks received. Prepares all store bags for interoffice distribution including sending weekly payroll checks to the Retail Stores and Sales Offices. Receives and signs for store bags & CODs from truck drivers and secures in locked file. Establish customer accounts once verification of references is completed along with necessary tax documentation. Send Vendors credit information. Prepares invoice deduction notices, as necessary. Verifies all pricing and quantity on invoices with purchase order in purchasing and updates pricing when needed in system.

Assists with monthly and year-end close out procedures and records. Must be able to work at 6am on the first business day of the month to assist with month-end closing activities. Assists with customer phone calls and requests (Customers asking for invoice copies, signed deliveries, information in regard to their account, etc. generally, 5-6 per day). Input customer payments and assists with petty cash transactions. This is not a remote position. Assists Finance Manager with daily functions and accepts additional responsibilities as needed and assists Accounting department with special projects, as necessary. Will be cross trained to serve as backup to Accounts Receivable Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk and Finance Manager. Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently, making immediate decisions and setting and meeting goals. Must have reliable transportation. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications: Associate's in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient computer skills are essential (i.e. word processing / data entry (60 70 wpm), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)). Accounting Computer Knowledge &Accounts Payable experience is preferred. Candidate must be detail oriented and possess excellent communication and organization skills. Must be flexible, organized and possess excellent phone communication skills. Diplomacy and professionalism are required in dealing with customers especially when discussing finances.

Pay: $15.50 - $17.00/hr depending on experience.
