Position:Employment Coach

Hours:Full-Time / Non-Exempt

Department/ Program: Family Strengthening Program / Workforce Development

Reports to:Program Manager

Salary/ Hourly Wage:$19.37 - $20.55; DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:Work with clients one-on-one.Design and facilitate educational groups and classes that will assist customers in eliminating barriers to become self-sufficient and job ready. Develop and maintain close working relationships with partner agencies, participating business andorganizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum (a) BA in a social services or education-related field with (1) year of experience in an employment, social work or training field or (b) AA in a social services or education-related field with (2) years of experience in an employment, social work or training field or Relatable work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. Experience and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of organizations and with people of all ages, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  3. Experience and ability to work effectively with individuals in recovery.
  4. Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
  5. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
  6. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening.
  7. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required.
  8. Valid California drivers license and Proof of auto insurance coverage.
  9. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points - if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.

REQUIREMENTS:

  2. Advocate for the best interests of the agency and clients we serve.
  3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, clients, supervisors and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, ancestry, political affiliation, citizenship, disability, medical conditions, marital status, amnesty and military or veteran status.
  4. Will promote and support a culturally and linguistically diverse workforce and be responsive to the population within our service area.
  5. Maintain confidentiality and confidential information in accordance with legal standards and/or agency regulations.
  6. Participate in assigned scheduled agency meetings, in-service trainings, conferences and other trainings as determined by the supervisor. This includes serving as an agency representative at assigned community meetings.
  7. Observance of assigned working hours and program appointments by demonstrating promptness and thorough preparation.
  8. Performance of assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation.
  9. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  10. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
  11. Participates in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events.
  12. Preparation of assigned reports, work records, statistical data, job performance evaluations, work plans, etc. in a timely manner.

DUTIES:

  1. Schedules, creates and implements participant orientations, educational workshops and classes independently and/or with co-facilitator.
  2. Conduct community and business outreach through one-on-one contact with participants to provide resource and referral information to improve health and family functioning.
  3. Develop and maintain close working relationship with county partners and other participating business and organizations.
  4. Encourage clients to participate in workforce development activities and assist in the reduction of applied sanctions.
  5. Assist participants in accessing needed services including translation, appointment setting and non-emergency transportation.
  6. Coach participants in developing age-appropriate social skills, conflict resolution, anger management, substance abuse, money management, personal hygiene and job readiness.
  7. Clarify and focus the participants issues, set goals concentrating on a participants strengths and assist them in reaching those goals.
  8. Prepare reports, proposals and other agency correspondence as needed.
  9. Collect and enter participant information into program data systems, provide reports and analysis, as needed.
  10. Participate in program outreach and community events.
  11. In the spirit of teamwork, perform other duties as assigned.
