Barr Engineering Human Resources Generalist (Hybrid) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Job Description: Summary: The person in this position is part of our corporate human resources team, working within our business support groups (HR, IS, finance, business development, facilities, project support services) and as a liaison between the groups, corporate HR, and other company subunits. Responsibilities will be focused on staffing and people-related activities across the employment life cycle. Primary areas of focus will be in: Recruiting and staffing - working with the business support group HR leader and subunit leaders to identify staffing needs, prepare job postings, screen resumes, work with the team that coordinates interview logistics, participate in and lead interviews and selection, deliver offers, and then lead new employee integration steps and assure support for the new employees. Staff development - supporting talent management and career development activities within our groups, including administering the coaching program and helping to identify needed skills and roles. Employee relations - interpreting HR policies and advising leaders and staff, consulting with managers on performance issues, investigating and addressing concerns, assisting in development of performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions, when needed. Human Resources administration - assisting with data gathering and analysis, salary and bonus setting processes, and HR planning in cooperation with subunits. The role requires flexibility, a strong team mentality, problem-solving, and the ability to influence without authority. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related area Four years of related experience Self-initiative and motivation to provide great outcomes with an emphasis on client service Ability to influence without authority to gain buy-in from key stakeholders and deliver results Flexibility and willingness to to collaborate within a team, building and maintaining relationships at multiple levels and across geographies Strong adaptability and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and negotiate deadlines with multiple stakeholders Knowledge of employment laws in multiple jurisdictions Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems Above average skills with Microsoft Office programs Problem-solving skills and ability to apply judgment and initiative in HR-related activities Excellent oral and written communication skills Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future Acceptable criminal background check and driving record Preferred Qualifications: Strong interest and aptitude for gathering, analyzing, reporting, and portraying data in a concise format Experience with recruiting for similar roles within a consulting environment A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
