ASM Global Sr Security Supervisor (FT - LACC) in Los Angeles, California

Job Summary:The Los Angeles Convention Center Sr Security Supervisor oversees event/show related operations from a security standpoint, as well as shift level operations when required, providing a safe environment for clients, employees, and, guests visiting the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC). This position will lead/direct event activities as they relate to safety and security of the event, ingress or egress, partnering with contract service providers (EMS & Security), as well as any City of Los Angeles departments present in the building (LAFD, LAPD, etc.). The Sr Security Supervisor will provide training as needed for newly hired and promoted supervisors in the department and constantly ensure adherence to CA Bureau of Security and Investigative Services standards, and internal ASM Global/LACC company policies and procedures.Key Job Factors:1.Level of accountability: Generally managed2.Level of decision making: Primarily routine tasks3.Has contact with: Inside / Outside company4.Supervision: Directs department through reporting supervisors/managers# of indirect reports 26 full time employees; 60-part time employees6.Physical Requirements: Considerable mental and physical effort7.Travel Percentage (%): 10%Essential Duties:Create, explain, and maintain employee roster/schedule and make staffing adjustments as necessary per shift with the assistance of the scheduler and Security Manager.Prepare pre/post-event activity summaries for review or debriefing as deemed necessary.Work closely with other departments inside the LACC organization to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of the client and the event.Assist, communicate and coordinate with partner entities across the ASM Global/AEG/LA Live Campus on cross campus events, security briefings and other reporting which effects the campus during event. Acts as a peer leader setting a positive example for others to follow.Work with clients, contractors and outside government agencies to develop security plans and extra security measures. In addition, thoroughly understand the nature of all events and ensure LACC policy & procedures are being followed.Responsible for training of all security staff including guard cards, first aid, CPR, and AVADE, auditing logs and systems in place. In addition, responsible for updating documentation in employee folders and ensuring all trainings are done in a timely manner and re-certifications are processed when necessary.Assume a leadership role in the management of entry and exit of guests from the building. Communicate with LACC Event and show management to provide safe conditions. Maintain a thorough working knowledge of building emergency operations and evacuation policies.Research background on events, its promoters and any talent coming to perform at the event as to any prior safety concerns in other past appearances in similar venues. Make recommendations to management as an advisor for events involving a high number of attendees. Identify problems and develop solutions related to event management. Communicate those actions to both on duty and off duty management staff as well as the event manager responsible and any other affected department(s).Maintain highly visible presence in the building during active events. Act as a leader to direct, organize and plan other supervisors in providing areas of responsibility.Act as the center's Security MOD (manager on duty) in the absence of other members of the security management team.Work closely with LACC Security Management to help update policies and procedures along with the Emergency Evacuation Plan.Other duties as assigned by management.Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree Preferred)Area of Study: General (Security, Business, Venue, Hospitality or Entertainment Management Preferred)1.A minimum of 3 years of Security Supervisor related work experience. ASM Global/AEG Security Supervisory experience may be factored 2:1.2.Minimum of 3 years' experience in a sports venue, entertainment and/or convention facility.3.Required variable work schedule such as late hours, early mornings, extended hours, holidays, and weekends.4.Must have reliable transportation5.Must be able to represent ASM Global and LACC in an exemplary manner6.Knowledge to accurately and concisely investigate and provide documentation for accidents, criminal acts, injuries, and property damage occurring on the premises.7.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills8.Knowledge of human behavior, including crowd management principles, and the ability to implement effective crowd control techniques as necessary9.Skills to provide training and direction to new hires in the department10.Must be able to quickly adapt and change direction on short notice when new or updated information is received and make quick decisions in the best interest of all parties involved11.Valid CA State Guard Card12.CPR/First Aid/AED certification13.Knowledge of the California BSIS powers to arrest and California Penal Codes applicable to venue security supervision and management14.This position may include an extended stationary position when requiredPreferred Qualifications (if applicable):1.Law enforcement experience2.Military experience3.Prior experience interviewing and screening candidates for open positions within the department4.Knowledge of scheduling softwarePHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
