Celebration Villa of Lewisburg Assistant Director of Nursing in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

PRIMARY DUTY

The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Nursing Services position is to assist the Director of Nursing in directing and supervising the day-to-day activities of the community in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations. As Assistant Director of Nursing, this position is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out the assigned duties.

  • Assists Director of Nursing with defining and maintaining the standards of nursing practice within the community
    • Provides input regarding the quality and cost-effectiveness of staffing and services in the nursing department
    • Assists in the development of policies and procedures that govern the nursing services within the community
    • Monitors all aspects of patient care

``` - Understands and reviews the community's Healthcare Clinical Policies and Procedures o Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations - Assists in the oversight of health, fire, safety and sanitation codes, ensuring they are carried out in accordance with community disaster and OSHA plans - Assists with the oversight of provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to the resident's care plan and physician directed orders - Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records - Assesses residents conditions - Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records - Participate in the development, implementation and maintenance of the community Quality Assurance Program - Assists in the development and maintenance of in-service education programs for nursing staff - Participates in the implementation of the facility infection control program - Conducts and participates in daily rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care

WORK ENVIRONMENT environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • The employee is occasionally required to wear protective clothing
  • The employee may be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, odors, airborne particles, dust or fumes, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

``` - Participates as a member of the community's management team in planning, policy  formation and administrative decision-making, with particular emphasis on  the community's nursing services - Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Nursing in his/her absence - Reports any issues or problems that may arise to the Director of Nursing and/or Administrator - Complies with state, federal, and all other applicable health care and safety standards - Assists families and other visitors as needed - Attends/completes required in-services and other required meetings - Completes online training as assigned in order to maintain company, state, and federal compliance - Performs other duties as directed

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; minimum of 3 years of previous long-term care experience, with a minimum of 1 year of charge nurse experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be licensed in the applicable state as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered  Nurse (RN); Registered Nurse (RN) preferred
  • Prior experience managing staff and working in a long-term care and/or assisted living setting preferred

     

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS of this position are generally as follows:

  • Oversees the activities of the nursing employees under the direction of the Director of Nursing
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities, including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and terminating employees
