TheSolid Waste Management{rel="nofollow"} (SWM) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill an Industrial Section Source Test Inspector (Environmental Specialist 4) (In-Training)* position. This position is locatedin *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.

This position is a unique opportunity that will focus on the oversight of stack testing conducted at various industrial facilities (such a pulp and paper mills).  Stack testing is one of the main methods for measuring air emissions from industrial facilities and they must be performed in a specific way to ensure accurate results.  In this role, you will become an important resource for the section to be able to both observe and review in detail the stack test reports that are submitted for each test. You will coordinate with the Section's engineers to ensure that our regulated facilities properly conduct and report their measured stack emissions.     This position is located within the Industrial Section at the Department of Ecology which oversees the environmental regulation of a specific set of large industries throughout the State. Industrial Section focuses on the environmental regulation of kraft pulp and paper mills, oil refineries, aluminum smelters, and a handful of chemical manufacturing facilities.

Note: *This position offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Environmental Specialist field and achieve the goal class of an *Environmental Specialist 4 (ES4). *Candidates will be considered at the *ES2, ES3 and the* ES4* levels, depending on their qualifications.   *Tele-work options for this position: *This position embraces the modern work environment, where you may telework up to 2 days each week. Observation of the stack tests will be conducted in the field throughout the year.
