Description:

TEKsystems is looking for a Network Engineer to join a large customer of ours on a contract to hire basis. This person will join the current team of 2 and will be on site in Gulfport, MS. The current team of 2 on a contract-to-hire model. The 2 individuals on the team are Admin level and they are looking for an Engineer level resource to join the team. They are moving from Cisco to Aruba but they understand that commands and though processes are very similar and they are open to candidates who come from a Cisco environment. They have around 5,000 end users and have nearly 8,000 devices.

Responsibilities:

• The network team is responsible for taking escalated tickets (Solarwinds ticketing system) for any network related issues, troubleshooting wireless issues, new deployments and replacement of old devices, looking at configs and making sure configurations are backed up.

• Routing protocols – OSPF, BRG, EIGRP.

• This team also handles TCP/IP, Internet, Token Ring, Routers, Bridges, Gateways, Hubs, Bay Networks Synoptics, Multiple Display, Modems, Muxs, Virtual Switches, Minicomputers, Printers, Cabling, WAN links, Network sniffers, VOIP and wireless.

• This person will work closely with vendors to re-vamp their core and firewalls

• They currently use Microsoft Visio and need help with documentation of their network layout.

• They need diagrams that shows the current layout and need to make updates when something is deployed or designed.

• This person will export configurations and show other LAN admins how that works.

Required Skills:

• Enterprise network routing/switching

• Documentation experience - creating diagrams

• Network troubleshooting

• Understanding of network infrastructures, operating system: network security and network configurations.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Understanding of TCP/IP and non TCP/IP network protocols, wireless networks and security, WAP, TKIP and any other related wireless network security.

• Able to work well with a team

Shift: Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm or some version of that. There is project work that has to be done outside of normal business hours on occasion. They do keep 1 person on call.
