The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of industrial background, be able to pass a background check, possess a valid driver's license (preferably with a "for hire" endorsement), and have the ability to work independently utilizing tools in general use in the building and maintenance trades. This is a very physical job, with heavy lifting, pushing and pulling (up to 100 pounds) along with climbing ladders.

JOB DESCRIPTION


POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Technician LOCATION: Brooklyn Avenue DEPARTMENT: Operations IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: VP of Operations and E-Commerce FLSA STATUS: NonExempt JOB STATUS: Hourly


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Performs proper repair and maintenance of all buildings and equipment.
  2. Follows all safety rules and procedures.
  3. Schedules and performs assigned tasks by priority and in a timely manner
  4. Monitors costs of repairs and equipment and reports same to VP of Operations and E-Commerce.
  5. Purchases necessary materials, tools and supplies according to established procedures.
  6. Responds to emergency maintenance situation after hours, at all goodwill facilities.
  7. Maintains and repairs and operates forklift.
  8. Performs routine truck maintenance.
  9. Assembles furniture, carts and other materials.
  10. Performs electrical repair and maintenance.
  11. Coordinates outside contractors.
  12. Operates radio/cell phone to keep in contact with supervisor.
  13. Follows all safety rules and practices.
  14. Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the VP of Operations and E-Commerce in the process of carrying out the mission of Goodwill Industries.
  15. In order to promote customer and donor satisfaction it is mandatory for employees who come in contact with the public to maintain a positive work outlook and to project a pleasant, courteous and helpful demeanor at all times when dealing with customers, donors, co-workers and clients.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Promotes safety policies.
  2. Drives truck, when necessary.
  3. Assures dock and other areas are orderly.

ATTENDANCE

Goodwill, your co-workers and our customers de end on you to be at work as scheduled.

JOB PERFORMANCE

Reviewed upon initial hire at 30, 60 and 90 days, and annually thereafter by the VP of Operations and E-Commerce.

EDUCATION

No Specialized educational requirements

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of three (3) years industrial background required.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILL / COMPETENCIES

Must have valid driver's license with "For Hire" endorsement preferred.

CREDENTIALS / LICENSES / SCREENING REQUIREMENT

  1. Subject to background check.
  2. Must have suitable driving record and be determined insurable by Goodwill Industries' insurance carrier.
  3. Ability to utilize tools in general use in the building and maintenance trades.
  4. Ability to work independently.
  5. Subject to random alcohol and drug testing as specified in the Drug-Free Workplace Program.
  6. Fully comply with Goodwill policy regarding values and ethical behavior with special emphasis on the Code of Ethics.

COMMUNITY INTERACTION

Contact with suppliers, contractors, customers, donors and co-workers.

EQUIPMENT

  1. Various production equipment including hand truck or dolly, pallet jack, and carts.
  2. Various hand an power tools.
  3. Gloves and safety glasses.

COMPLEXITY

Work that requires attention and concentration, and requires the use of several readily understood rules and procedures in which the employee may make major decisions that could affect the efficiency, accuracy or correctness of work.

The time spent traveling on agency business is considerable.

PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS

Heavy work: Pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds.

The ability to fully perform lifting and moving duties is mandatory.

Ability to climb ladders.

Environmental Conditions;

The worker is subject to both outdoor and indoor environmental conditions.
