We are in search of a qualified Regional Nurse Consultant:

The Regional Nurse Consultant will be responsible for the dissemination of expert advice and oversight to facility management personnel and line staff to ensure that systems are maintained to effectively and efficiently operate the facility in a manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. General Responsibilities

To consult the assigned facilities on nursing functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing long-term care facilities to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the residents at all times.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

  1. Work with Regional Case Manager regarding coverage and services to meet resident’s needs. 2. Conducts compliance rounds with facility staff to identify areas that need improvements or change. 3. Eliminate/reduce resident liability claims through use of corporate policies and established customer service program. 4. Monitor corporate clinical benchmarks, Q.I.’s, Q.M.’s and other available consultant reports, corporate Q.A. results, and facility Q.A. process. Assist in implementing and monitoring plans to correct identified issues. 5. Monitor the appropriate use of technology as per corporate guidelines. 6. Monitor facility survey preparedness and works with facility to correct identified issues. 7. Provide support to facility during survey by any state or federal agencies. 8. Assist and support in informal/formal disputes. 9. Works with facility to develop and implement a plan of correction to address deficiencies. 10. Participate in the review and development of nursing policies and procedures based on company goals, needs, federal and state regulations. 11. Participate in facility functions as required to establish customer service relations and promote teamwork. 12. Routinely reviews clinical systems such as falls, infection control, pressure ulcers, weight loss, dehydration, medication errors, etc. for areas of improvement and make recommendations as needed. 13. Routinely monitor compliance with risk management policies to include reviews of significant events/unusual occurrences and a review of the medical record.

Requirements

  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing

  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity in a long-term care facility

  • Has working knowledge of Federal and State regulations for long term care

  • Demonstrates leadership and supervisory skills

  • Demonstrates professional appearance and behavior

  • Ability to make independent decisions.

  • Ability to travel extensively as necessary

  • Has the skills to operate a computer and basic software pertinent to the position

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled

  • Must be capable of performing the ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS and PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL JOB FUNCTIONS
