Overview

CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson part of CommonSpirit Heath a national nonprofit health system based in Englewood Colorado. The faith-based system operates in 18 states and includes 103 hospitals. Additional services offered within the system are: long-term care assisted and residential living communities community health services organizations home health agencies and numerous outpatient facilities.

Works under the supervision of the Infection Prevention Coordinator. The Employee Health Nurse is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and overseeing the Employee Health activities to promote a safe environment for patients and healthcare personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Performs new employee physical assessments before placement to ensure the worker will not pose a risk for infection trasnsmission.

  • Develops and implements immunization programs to provide protection from vaccine preventable diseases for workers and those under their care.

  • Manages job-related illnesses and exposures to healthcare personnel.

  • Provides health and safety education to healthcare personnel to contribute to worker compliance with infection prevention practices.

  • Develops and implements policies/protocols which are mandates by regulatory, accrediting, and licensing agencies.

  • Maintains employee health records according to federal, state, and local standards.

  • Collaborates with all departments on and off campus.

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

Graduate of an accredited nursing program, BS degree in nursing and/or certification in Occupational Health or Infection Control.

Required Minimum Experience

Minimum of two years satisfactory experience as a staff nurse and a minimum of one year administrative or supervisory experience.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge or job experience or both in epidemiologic principles and infectious disease, vaccine preventable diseases, adult education principles, and patient care practices. Basic Life Support certification and re-certification is required due to vaccination administration. Accountable for own conduct. Relates will with co-workers, other staff, medical staff, and visitors. Maintains confidentiality.

PREFERRED Education and/or Experience

Previous experience in infection prevention and/or employee health.

Pay Range

$30.62 - $44.40 /hour
