Robert Half Purchasing Specialist in Darien, Illinois

Description We are offering a contract-to-hire opportunity for an analytical and collaborative Purchasing Specialist in Darien, Illinois. This role involves managing vendor relationships, optimizing the procurement process, and supporting sales by aligning product availability with customer demands. You will be working in a fast-paced environment and will play a key role in ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services in alignment with internal stakeholder needs.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with potential and existing vendors based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet company objectives.

• Issue purchase orders and track the delivery of goods and services.

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment.

• Analyze purchasing data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve procurement efficiency.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

• Collaborate with the sales team to align procurement activities with sales forecasts and customer demands.

• Provide input on product availability and lead times to support the sales process.

• Assist in developing promotional strategies by ensuring the availability of necessary products.

• Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, vendor performance, and cost analysis. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook

• Familiarity with the About Time software

• Experience with Accounting Functions and Accounts Payable (AP)

• Strong skills in Customer Service

• Ability to manage Invoices effectively

• Experience in Purchasing Activities, Purchasing Functions, and Purchasing Management

• Understanding of Business sales

• Knowledge of purchasing strategies and procedures

• Excellent negotiation and communication skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Knowledge of industry trends and market conditions

• Ability to maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors

• Proven track record in reducing costs and improving efficiency in purchasing functions

• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
