Sargent & Lundy Transmission and Generator Interconnection Planning Project Manager in Chicago, Illinois
Description
This manager-level position is within Sargent & Lundy's Consulting Group and will be responsible for the following:
Manage a team of 12+ power systems engineers for allocation of assignments and their technical developments
Provide guidance and oversight of junior engineers performing power system modeling and analysis
Manage transmission planning and power system studies projects, including external coordination with clients and internal coordination with the project team of power systems engineers
Participate in business development including identification of new work, preparation of proposals, provide input project scope, approach, schedule, and budget
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology and applications of new technologies
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree
A minimum of 10 years relevant engineering experience with at least 2 years of experience in leading a team of power systems engineers
Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits
Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, identify voltage constraints and analyze power system damping
Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD
Valued but not required skills and experience:
Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering is preferred
Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD
Experience in modeling and application studies for HVDC converters and HVDC transmission lines
Experience in short circuit analysis and using software programs CAPE or ASPEN
Experience in the interconnection process for large generators (>20MW)
Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, such as: PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE
Experience in Python, Java Script, or other scripting languages
