Vi AVP of Learning and Organizational Effectiveness (Chief Learning Officer) in Chicago, Illinois
Vi is the parent organization of ten exclusive continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) located in 6 states employing 2,800 employees. The AVP of Learning and Organizational Effectiveness (Chief Learning Officer) serves in a strategic capacity while performing tasks to execute initiatives. This position serves as an internal business consultant to recommend, develop, deliver, and measure learning, organizational development, and performance management solutions and interventions designed to improve organizational, team, and individual performance.
Specifically, this position:
Designs, develops, and delivers leading learning and performance management solutions to support individual and organizational learning that differentiate the Company as an employer of choice.
Structures content and learning for scalability, simplicity, engagement, and operational/business needs.
Leads oversight of specific technology solutions including the Company’s learning and performance management systems and continues to develop the infrastructure for all training and development programs by establishing standardized methods and procedures for development, delivery, evaluation, measurement and reporting.
Analyzes learning and performance needs of the Company to support the organization in meeting its mission and overall strategies and objectives. This includes initiating training needs, surveys and collaborating and partnering with leaders and staff across the Company.
Oversees the new employee orientation/on-boarding process.
Designs and delivers, both in-house and with expert third parties, solutions that include a blended approach to learning such as coaching, classroom training, experiential learning, distance learning and online learning. Ensures compliance with national and state mandates.

Ability to think strategically while executing ongoing learning, development and performance management programs.
Strong learning and performance management technical knowledge with an understanding of emerging technologies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, executive presence and ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and execute a strategy to stakeholders.
Keen detail orientation, excellent project management, and superb planning and organization skills, with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Up to 20% travel required.
Minimum 10 years progressive leadership of a learning function with 7 – 10 years instructional design (including online content development) experience is required. Extensive experience with designing and curating - both internally and with select external providers. Progressive organizational development experience with multi-site responsibility is also required. Service and/or healthcare industry experience are preferred.
Master’s degree in Organizational Development/Effectiveness or Bachelor’s degree in Organization Development/Effectiveness with significant experience leading learning high-performing learning teams is required. Prior certifications in training programs/assessments helpful.
