Parts Driver
Under direct supervision, the Parts Driver will be responsible for managing and executing the retrieval and delivery of parts to and from local vendors and suppliers to meet the needs of production and maintaining our supply chain. The goal is to ensure the safe, accurate, timely, damage-free, and cost-efficient material flow to support our operations in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
Essential Functions
Reviews manifests and parts lists for accuracy and to prioritize the daily schedule
Performs loading, driving, and unloading of items between Singer sites and our vendors/suppliers
Ensures the load contents are secure for safe and undamaged delivery to the destination
Scans bar codes to properly record inventory location and delivery timing to meeting supply chain requirements
Reviews all delivery documentation to ensure the correct items are retrieved and delivered to the precise delivery location providing timely updates on delivery times
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum three (3) years as a California licensed driver and a valid Class C license
Maintain an overall driving record free from major violations in the past three (3) years
Preferred Education/Experience and/or certifications
Material handling and heavy haul driving experience (over 26k GVW)
Experience driving for a high-volume manufacturing environment
Strong customer-service delivery background
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
Team oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a high-performance, fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
As required, must maintain a valid California Driver’s License with a good driving record and appropriate insurance limits and/or be insurable under the Singer’s company vehicle insurance policy
Must be able to lift, stand, climb, bend, grasp, sit, push, pull, stoop, stretch, and carry to perform the functions of this position
Must be able to pass any medical examination to maintain the license requirements reflected above
Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
Must be able to work in a seated position for extended periods
Must be able to work extended hours and overtime as needed
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the production environment
Frequent lifting of 25-50 lbs.
Compensation
The starting salary range for this position is between $20.00 -21.32/hr. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For this temporary role, the employee will not be eligible for benefits.
