Ametek Inc. Manufacturing Test Engineer in Binghamton, New York

FUNCTION:

Provide direct support to the manufacturing floor, which could involve overall process analysis and improvements, production support, mechanical tool design, documentation development and quality enforcement and improvements. Additional responsibilities include working with Design Engineering to aid in the integration of new products to the manufacturing floor. Additional interactions with other functional groups at the various PDS locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and improve processes related to electronic and/or mechanical assembly, including equipment layout and workflow.
  • Design and develop tooling to assist in the manufacturing process.
  • Identify and justify the purchase of new equipment that is required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Works with new product design engineers to ensure new product manufacturability. Ensures processes and tooling are in place to support new products transitioning to manufacturing.
  • Provide training to manufacturing technicians and production personnel as needed.
  • Initiate improvement ideas and see through to implementation.
  • Partner with Engineering, Sales and Production teams to deliver results.
  • Any other work as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree.

Experience

5 years' experience in a technical manufacturing environment supporting PCB assembly lines and/or electro-mechanical products.

Travel

Minimal domestic and international travel required (3-4 trips per year)

Skills

  • Ability to utilize CAD tools and software to develop and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly prints.
  • Experience with the PTH/SMT assembly processes for printed circuit boards.
  • Ability to evaluate PCB designs for manufacturability on an automated assembly line.
  • Training and demonstrated knowledge of SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing techniques, Operational Excellence, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively function as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communication skills (both written and verbal) with attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally.
  • Must be self-directed and be able to work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines.

Salary Minimum: $70, 000

Salary Maximum: $110, 000
