Bedford County Commissioners MDIT Coordinator/Office Administrator in Bedford, Pennsylvania

The Bedford County District Attorney's Office is currently seeking a MDIT Coordinator/Office Administrator. This position could be full-time or part-time. If full-time, benefits would be available, including medical, voluntary vision, voluntary dental, paid time off and retirement.

JOB SUMMARY:

The MDIT Coordinator/Office Administrator for the District Attorney's office engages in repetitive clerical work and serves as a liaison between Your Safe Haven (Victim Services) and the District Attorney's Office. Detailed instructions are given for new or difficult assignments and work is reviewed in process or upon completion for accuracy. Alertness and a willingness to learn and prepare for assignments of progressively increasing difficulty are essential. Maintains and handles confidential information appropriately. Conducts self in a professional manner and practices appropriate time management.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Performs routine typing and general clerical duties; does related work as required. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone and in writing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Illustrative Only)

· Types forms, letters, legal orders, affidavits, contracts, schedules, invoices, civil processes, vouchers, records, reports, index cards and similar materials.

· Notifies crime victim, most notably domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking victims, of upcoming court dates and required appearances. Coordinates all victims and witnesses court appearances.

· Compiles all restitution information, prepares cases for sentencing, notifies victims of Court dates, and prepares files for central court.

· Assists in the developing and implementing of policies and procedures that foster an effective systems response to cases of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Makes recommendations for improvements within the criminal justice system to the District Attorney.

· Assists in facilitating a prompt response to Protection from Abuse and Probation violations by working with various agencies within the criminal justice system.

· Coordinates the scheduling of quarterly STOP meetings and trainings associated with the STOP program.

· Sorts, records and files documents.

· Opens, processes and routes daily mail.

· Logs and files correspondence, memoranda, reports, and other materials alphabetically, numerically or by other predetermined classification.

· Acts as a receptionist, answering telephone and furnishing information and directions to visitors.

· Maintains simple clerical-accounting records.

· Receives payments, issues receipts, and makes deposits for licenses, fines and other bills.

· Types, processes and issues permits, licenses, titles, warrants and similar documents.

· Processes complaints, certificates, legal documents, purchase orders, claims, and personnel papers.

· Schedules meetings and hearings.

· Prepares court notices and court lists.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Some knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment, and of business arithmetic and English; skill in the operation of a typewriter/computer; ability to type key from clear copy or rough draft at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to write legibly; ability to get along well with others; clerical aptitude; mental alertness; tactful, courteous and accuracy.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Completion of high school plus some level of continuing legal education is highly preferred. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Prior work experience in a professional office setting would be helpful.

SPECIAL NEEDS:

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel if required to attend meetings and seminars.
