ABM Industries Waste Truck Driver in Austin, Texas

Overview

Position Summary Details

Drivers of site waste disposable truck will maintain trash routes through the entire shift. Scheduled drops made to the facility compactor and recycling disposal areas. Loading and unloading of refuse, cleaning of company vehicle, twice daily inspections of company vehicle.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes and maintains effective communication and working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers, etc.

  • Always communicate professionally with client, teammates and other contactors.

  • Employee is responsible for operating our assigned vehicle on a designated transportation route.

  • Employee is further responsible for the safe transportation, loading, and unloading of refuse.

  • Complies with all safety, security, compliance and safety standards and procedures established by the Company, Clients, and regulatory authorities.

Responsibilities

  • While operating company vehicles, drivers must obey all federal, state, local, client and ABM rules and regulations.

  • Must be in communication with client when compactors are full or in need servicing.

  • Follow Compactor Procedures – Proper dispose of all refuse into assigned area during rounds. Maintain proper use of the machinery. Pull recyclables and transport to the proper disposal area.

  • Ensures the safe loading and unloading of refuse, including the safe operation of the vehicle or trailer and handling of specialized equipment.

  • Come prepared to work with all assigned PPE and weather permitting attire.

  • Directs traffic, position barricades, and oversees proper revers procedures.

  • Immediately reports any incidents or claims to Assistant Project Manager or Supervisor.

  • Refuels and maintains shuttle equipment and maintains clients assigned fuel use logs.

  • Performs pre-inspection and post-inspection activities to ensure proper operating conditions. This should be done daily by all employees in the truck to find any unsafe conditions or maintenance issues; performs routine cleaning and truck maintenance activities. Issues found need to be reported to AMP immediately.

  • Always maintains a clean work environment.

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Valid US Drivers License

  • Able to pass background screening and MVR

  • Must completed Client safety courses to receive required site badges.
